Guild Expectations
Member Relations
Many members of Tides of Darkness are always willing to help others out. These members will go out of their way for you, to help you quest, level and get new gear. This is not a requirement by any means for membership, but it does help built up the community within the guild. The following guidelines are raised with regard to member interaction.
- Members are here for fun. This means that arguments for the sake of arguing, insults, and other belligerent behavior are unbecoming of the guild itself. Disagreements will happen, when they do just try to keep it civil and most of all keep it private. The use of whispers, tells, or equivalent are to be used. These forms of discussion are to remain outside of guild chat, general chat, and any other form of public communication. If you and the other member can't come to terms then ask for an officers help.
- Begging and whining is unacceptable. It is annoying and only causes tension. There is nothing wrong with asking a member to craft an item for you or to help you complete something. Constantly asking for services or crafted items without offering anything in return will eventually lead to problems.
- Respect your guildmates. All members both high level and low level deserve the same amount of respect. Please treat everyone with the same amount of respect that you would wish yourself.
- Main character recognition. You can have as many characters in the guild as you wish within reason but one character should be your nominate "main". Alts can be switched to "mains"; however, you must give prior notice of this to the officers.
- Respeccing is commonplace in the game, and at no time will you be required to be a certain spec. You may be asked to respec as guild needs arise, but our philosophy is that if you are playing a character that you enjoy, then you will work harder to progress that character.
Outside Interactions
Interacting with other people is what makes MMORPGs so fun and we as a guild need to show a certain persona in everything we do as well as everything we say. If we are helpful and tactful, recruiting will be easier, the guild will have a better reputation and quite simply we will enjoy the games we play more.
- Show others what Tides of Darkness is all about. It is up to each person to set an example. Remember that your choices will impact not only you, but also the entire guild's reputation.
- Respect other players. When talking with people outside of our guild treat them with the same respect that you desire. Try not to argue for the sake of arguing. This includes harassment, cursing, begging and anything else that could be looked down upon.
- Keep the game play as honorable as you can. We ask that the members of Tides of Darkness do not ninja loot items, be it monster loot, chests, or harvesting. Have honor and die when you overstepped your bounds instead of training mobs into other groups. Do not kill steal, as this is dishonorable and will lead to hostility against the entire guild.
Guild Participation
The guild serves as a collective to help us achieve goals and overcome obstacles we could not easily achieve on our own. We encourage everyone to participate in any event of their choosing on their free time. At no time will you be required to participate in a guild activity. Free will is a priority of the guild.
Guild Grievance and Complaints
Always try to resolve your differences yourself first as this is clearly the best route to take.
If you have a complaint to make about another guild member's behavior, in the first instance you should always contact an officer. The officer you contact will try to resolve the issue directly and will notify the rest of the leadership team. If they cannot resolve the matter satisfactorily, the entire leadership team will discuss ways forward.
If the leadership team deems it appropriate to remove the member from the guild, they will vote, agree and discuss this with the player involved before removing them. At no time should an individual be removed without discussion.
If a complaint is made about a guild member from an external source, this same process will be applied.
